African Cichlid Profile
- Should be kept in a tank of at least 50 gallons. These fish range in size but they are generally around 5 inches with some types reaching 10 inches.
- These are semi-aggressive to aggressive and territorial fish.
- Depending on the type can be carnivore, omnivore or herbivore.
Water conditions should be: Temperature: between 76 and 82 F
KH: 10-15
pH: 7.8-8.6
There are many different types of African Cichlid and each will have a different pattern and/or color, ranging from solid blue or yellow to stripes or spots.
African Cichlids
Caution should be used when placing African Cichlids with Tanganyikan Cichlids, New World Cichlids, Malawian Cichlids, Barbs, Cory Cats, Larger Catfish, Loaches, Sharks, Sucker mouth Catfish and Invertebrates.
Extreme Caution: African Cichlids should not be placed in a tank with Angelfish, Bettas, Danios, Minnows, Discus, Fancy Goldfish, Gouramis, Guppies, Hatchets, Killifish, Mollies, Platties, Rainbow fish, Rasboras, Swordtails, Tetras and Brackish fish.
